Mengapa Ketua Umum PKR Menentang KR1M?

KUALA LUMPUR: The public will see 22 more Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) opened nationwide by the end of the year. Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government had set the target as part of its efforts to ease the public's burden.

"The government is committed to ensuring the public is not burdened, especially when there is an increase in the price of goods," he said after launching the third KR1M at the Pantai Permai Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur quarters here yesterday.
Present was Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin who is also the Lembah Pantai Umno division chairman. "The newly opened KR1M will not only benefit the Lembah Pantai residents but also Universiti Malaya students as the campus is located a stone's throw away," said Ismail Sabri, adding that the store was expecting sales of about RM7,000 a day.

He said the public should understand that price hikes did not only happen here but was a global phenomena which could not be avoided.
"But the government will find solutions and alternative methods to reduce the impact of the price hike that the public is facing."

Ismail Sabri said the government would not merely sit back and claim that nothing could be done.

"We will also supply products available at the KR1M to other shops so that more people can enjoy cheaper products of the same quality."
Ismail Sabri said there were currently 17 shops in low-cost flats here selling the 1Malaysia products and one in Seremban.

He said the previous two KR1M received tremendous support from the public with the Kelana Jaya store's sales reaching over RM12,000 per day and the one in Bandar Tun Razak hitting RM16,000 a day.

He said the public who patronise these shops were not only residents who live within the vicinity but also those who were willing to travel for a better deal on groceries.

"Items at Kedai Rakyat are markedly cheaper than those in supermarkets and hypermarkets and helps families cut down on their expenses without losing out on quality."

The first Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia was opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in June offering goods at 30 to 50 per cent lower than the market prices of similar products.
